I have been a Language Teacher for nearly 30 years. I created this site to try and bring together materials and ideas that I trust will stimulate creative use of foreign languages. My main language is French but much of what I share I hope will also be relevant to other languages. Apart from some free goodies, most materials on this site will eventually be for sale. It is one of the oddities of the last few decades in MFL that increasing rigidity in the school curriculum has been accompanied by an explosion in the ways in which language teachers and learners can express themselves creatively: music, drama, podcasting, weblogs, film, animation.
There is a pearl of Biblical wisdom that I believe has great relevance to effective language learning:
"Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks".
When I was taught a language, one would have thought the quote should have read "Out of the abundance of the head .." The heart really didn't come into it! It has never been easier to redress this imbalance.
This site is my small contribution, therefore, to trying to pack some of that emotional content back into materials that encourage and motivate young linguists to speak and truly learn 'by heart'.
